What is the Play & Preserve Campaign?

The 208-acre Park located in the heart of Downtown Smithfield, was established & developed as a private gift (May 2010) to the Town by Mr. Joseph W. Luter III. It is owned & maintained by the Town of Smithfield. There are approximately 150,000 visits to the park annually by over 18,000 different people.  All park users, whether local or from out of the area, enjoy walking or training/running on the trails, fishing, kayaking, or bringing their four-legged friends and utilizing the dog park.

Both locals and visitors from surrounding communities who use the park rave about what a special place has been created at Windsor Castle Park.  Everyone knows how fortunate we are to have been given such a beautiful one-of-a-kind green space right in the heart of Smithfield, VA.

In celebration of the Park's 5th birthday (May 2015), the Windsor Castle Park Foundation has launched its "Play & Preserve - Funding Our Future" campaign. Donate as an individual, business, civic/social group or see if your employer has a matching funds program.

There are many ways you can help to support the park. Choose the one that's right for you.

Sunflower Donations
ABOUT THE SUNFLOWERS:
In the Summer of 2018, (for the first time), we had about 12 acres of beautiful sunflowers blooming at the park! They started blooming about July 28th and bloomed nicely for about (3) weeks! Thousands of folks came and and enjoyed the sunflowers.  Folks took pictures of them, took pictures with them and enjoyed walking thru them.

The Park does plan on planting them again in 2019 but due to the unexpected crowds will likely be making some changes, so stay tuned!

We are still accepting sunflower donations as a way to support the park, so if you enjoy them, please make a donation today!
